The Alerta Four-Wheel Aluminium Dual-Folding Rollator is distinguished by its patented dual-fold mechanism, which folds the frame in two directions to achieve a more compact storage profile than standard single-fold rollators. This is particularly relevant for users with small car boots, limited care home storage space, or who travel regularly and need the rollator to fit alongside luggage. The independently adjustable backrest allows the backrest angle to be set separately from seat and handle height adjustments, enabling more precise postural positioning. At 7.35kg with a 136kg user capacity, 48cm seat height and a wide handle range of 79-96cm, the dual-fold covers a broader range of user heights than the solid back model's 82-91cm range.

The Alerta Dual-Folding Rollator meets BS EN ISO 11199-2 (wheeled walking aids) for stability, braking, folding durability and handle range. UK UKCA marking applies as a Class I medical device. The 79-96cm handle range is one of the widest in the rollator range, making it suitable for both shorter users (handles starting at 79cm) and taller users (handles reaching 96cm) who may not be accommodated by models with a narrower range. The 48cm seat height is lower than the solid back model (52cm), which is relevant for users with shorter lower limb length or post-operative hip restrictions where a lower seat facilitates easier sit-to-stand movement. CQC Regulation 10 (Dignity and Respect) is supported through the independent backrest adjustment, which enables personalised postural positioning without requiring carer adjustment.
What does the patented dual-fold mechanism do that a standard single fold does not?
A standard rollator folds by bringing the two sides of the frame together laterally (collapsing the width). The patented dual-fold on the NCL-ALT-R006 folds the frame in two directions - laterally and longitudinally - achieving a much more compact final footprint. This means the folded rollator can be stored upright in a small cupboard or laid flat in a car boot where a standard folded rollator would not fit. The dual-fold is particularly valuable for users or carers who struggle with loading bulky mobility aids into vehicles.
Why can the backrest be adjusted independently of the handle height?
On most rollators, the backrest position is fixed relative to the frame or seat height. The independently adjustable backrest on the NCL-ALT-R006 allows the angle and height of the backrest to be set for each user's postural preference separately from their handle height requirement. A taller user may need the handles at 94cm but prefer a lower backrest angle; a shorter user may set handles at 82cm but need the backrest positioned higher for lumbar support. This independent adjustment supports more precise postural fitting and is particularly relevant for users assessed by an OT for specific postural support needs.
